I don't think it is the right approach to a perceived problem by nerfing something so bad that a standard player can't even get a single drop within the play of the entire game. Whats the reason for a player to continue to play a game thru if there is little reward in doing so. GG ANET!! Thx for taking the fun out of pve. Good way to eliminate replayability.

Wow I've not seen such a short sighted response as that in a long time. Just because the man has a complaint to air he becomes unbearable to be in a guild with? When did we start stifling the right to have an opinion, should we all be afraid that if we don't like something and say it that we too are unbearable and are not fit to be in guilds with certain people?
Anyway I've heard some folks having issues with drops be it gold or green, they just don't seem to have any luck in normal play through getting rares or greens. Normally the average player will get a green somewhere in their play through of the game. Might not be the one they want or need or even max damage but normally one drops. However, more and more it seems people are going through the chapters and their drops are awful, no rares, minimal runes and no greens. If ANet is going to attempt to slow farming down because Gring is something their against, then they should tweak the drop rate a little. I'd normally attribute crappy drop rate to the farming code, but if I can take a brand new spanking character get half way through a campaign and not have a single rune drop thats pretty bad especially when we're all now reliant on finding those armors to get insignias for our armors.

I would have to agree with that in parties of 8 I have found lots of runes which all happened to be for the dervish pity I am using my paragon atm. :P
lots of of common, few purple and 1 gold but that's from just primary quest following. With my friend and heroes running about the plains like madmen I got a green drop and I didn't even know what boss we killed. Maybe your just unlucky but I think they have increased the rates due to the scarce farming which they could not have done before perhaps?

Actually, (applies flame retardant clothing) - I very much hope that they HAVE nerfed the green drop rate, nerfed it to hell I say! I say this as a farmer, and someone who gets considerable pleasure from the 'X boss drops his lovely unique item' message. Do people seriously want the in game market to be absolutely flooded with new green items when 95% of players haven't even finished the main campaign yet? Consider that Green items are supposed to be somewhat rare, then work out the proportion of MMs who swear by their Ghial's Staff, or their Konruu's fervor. To be entirely honest, I'm THRILLED that, oh let's see, seven days after release, not every Dervish in the game is running around with a Bubahl's Grasp worth about 1k.
Is it irritating at times? Hell yes - I've killed that stupid Invoke Lightning margonite way too many times to be satisfied with no Green drop, but do I really want to amass an entire collection of shiny new green items ONE WEEK after the game is released? Impulse says yes, of course, sense says - it's better this way!

lol... the game has been out for 1 week exactly. anyone who already finished it had to rush through it. How do you expect them to get green drops when they ran through it? I am playing at my own pace and got a green axe (grantd it was on the noobie island and is therefore useless).

Beat the game last night. Seen 0 green drops 0 gold drops 1 purple 1 rune. I'm having a hard time equiping my heros with skills and weapons and I don't know what to do because from what I hear farming is as good as impossible now.

You care way too much about what others are running around with. Besides, Greens are supposed to be so that players could have decent weapons with decent mods "more easily"
I dont understand you farmers. First you tell people that not everyone should have rares because they can just settle for greens and collectibles but I also see a lot of you saying that greens should be a lot more rare also. So which is it?

Guild Wars isn't a pve game, the skill balances are done primarily for pvp.
As for the farm nerfs, they want to take money out of circulation to make prices go back up. Stop complaining, ectos used to be 15k and sigils used to be 80k.

anet should create an addon available through the online store: GW - Farm Wars
This pack will add a separate area, rather like presear for Ascalon. Just one town with a multitude of portals to different one room zones packed with melee mobs. Farmers can run into these zones in which the mobs will pack around them and die horribly from the aoe damage giving farmers a rush of invunerability and leetness.
Of course the enemy will drop lots and lots of gold and loot. Runes, and Farm War specific greens will be dropped at random.
Maybe this will be a one way trip as presear -> postsear was. Or maybe farmers can go in and out. However all drops will be confined to the farming zone, in which people can team up in groups of 16 in which they can spam what greens they have, sell these greens to each other at exorbiant prices. There's even a special farming storage to store all these special drops they've farmed. It would be a farmers dream come true, a virtual heaven of easy to farm mobs w/ guaranteed green drops in each room, boatloads of gold to squander, and other farmers to parade in front of.
Rather like Las Vegas.. but you know what they say, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. And in this case anything you win in Vegas stays there as well..
The rest of us can then pve to our hearts content and progress through the content reminiscent of the illydic years of ascalon, picking red iris flowers for your lady love.

I haven't seen any nerfing. I've been playing before Factions, and I've never gotten a green unless I was farming. I still seem to get about the same amount of runes and dyes and stuff as before Factions, so I don't see why you are complaining about nerfs. I still almost never get any good material drops, and even when I farm for expensive drops, I never get it. When there is a expensive green and I farm for it, I never got it. Now, I still don't get it. I've done at least 30 (recently and a while ago) 2 person UW runs, and still never got a ecto or shard.
Basically, the drops rates always were horrible, and still are (at least for me).
I think the title of this thread shouldn't be that ArenaNet is nerfing drops too much, but that they aren't unnerfing drops enough.
Is there ever going to be a time when I can make a new character and not have to farm to have enough money to buy their armor and skills? Every single time I have made a new character so far, I had to farm at least a little to even have enough money for buying the max armor and skills to fill up my skill bar. Isn't farming grinding? And isn't grinding the opposite of what this game is about? Yet farming still seems necesary just to play.

The game gives you free skills in prophecies and nightfall. In nightfall and factions you recieve gold rewards for quest and mission completion. Money for just skills should be the least of your concerns. However, attempting to ask ANET to fully balance or even attempt to enforce some kind of real world working economy in GW isnt going to happen. The game just does not have those kinds of mechanics in place, nor is the game world persisting outside of the town hubs to even start down that path. This is probably the main reason the option for pvp characters exist, not that it matters to pve only player(s).

GW is a PvE game. it also happens to have a PvP component. if it was a pvp game im sure the developers wouldnt bother to write storylines and spend time making...thats right...a PvE campaign. Also, Anet doesnt want to make prices go up, they want to make prices go down so that the average player can afford to bid on rare items. they feel if everyone is poor than no one will be selling items for 100k +XX ectos. unfortunately theyre implementation is ridiculously poor and shortsighted, seeing as it only hurts noobs, and not those who already have money/ectos in storage. and just bc you had the game and played when ectos were 15k and sigils were 80k doesnt mean those of us who bought the game more recently cant protest our inability (or reduced ability) to make money to get rare items/unlock skills

Drop rates being more rare makes the game unenjoyable? Sheesh, and to think I was having fun with the storyline and missions, as well as other content. Replayability for me would be deleting a character or two and going through the game again with one of the new professions, then my other professions after that. Greens don't make or break my fun in these chapters.
